A Wamberal man who was busted with cocaine and thousands of cash in his car started sweating when he was pulled over by police.

Taylan Demirciler, 25, of Wamberal, has been granted bail a week after being sentenced to a jail term for supplying a prohibited drug and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Demirciler, who pleaded guilty to the charges in December, was driving with a co-accused when police observed the car travelling along Green Point.

According to police facts, the vehicle was leaving a well known drug location within the Brisbane Waters area.

Police pulled in behind the vehicle and stopped the car at Erina on the Central Coast Highway.

Demirciler was then asked what he was doing with the co-accused, who was known to police, and replied that he was “just going for a cruise”.

Demirciler appeared to be extremely nervous while talking to police - his hands were shaking while he was holding his phone and his speech was slow.

“He was not responding to the police and sweat could be seen on his forehead,” police facts state.

Police asked Demirciler if there was anything in his car that he should not have and he told them he did not.

Demirciler’s passenger was slumped over and not willing to speak to police.

A search of the passenger was conducted and nothing was found.

However, a search of the vehicle was conducted and police found a backpack containing two small tupperware containers.

Police found several small plastic bags containing cocaine inside the containers.

Demirciler and his co-accused denied knowledge of the contents within the bag.

A further search of the vehicles revealed a large amount of $100 and $50 notes totalling $15,100 and a set of digital scales.

Demirciler and his co-accused were handcuffed and placed under arrest.

Demirciler pleaded guilty to the charges on December 9, last year.

On February 6, Demirciler was sentenced to an aggregate jail term of 15 months with a non-parole period of eight months.

Demirciler has appealed the sentence and was granted bail on Monday to reside with his parents.

His matters are listed for a sentence appeal hearing in the District Court in March.
