He was a Sydney party boy who made headlines when he was jailed over a massive drug importation plot – but it now seems Matthew Doyle’s turmoil is behind him as he settles back into life with his loyal wife at their multimillion dollar bayside home.
Doyle, who once worked in property development, became embroiled in a police sting when he tried to import what he thought was up to 50kg of cocaine before he was imprisoned for five years back in 2020.
He was released back in the community with an ankle monitoring bracelet last year, but it appears that it is now off as he begins to enjoy some sense of normalcy in his life once again.
Prosecutors conceded in court the drug plot was never going to actually come to fruition because the drugs never existed, but they did stress Doyle was motivated by “greed”.
During the hearings, Doyle’s defence team pointed to the support of his wife, Kelsea, when he was staring down the barrel of a potentially lengthy jail sentence, arguing her support boded well for his future.
And it seems that line of argument was justified, with the couple spotted running errands outside their Burraneer home in the Sutherland Shire on Tuesday.
Kelsea, a publicist who has previously worked for brands such as Camilla and Marc and Dion Lee, carried some bottles of rosé into the home and also at one point jumped a glass fence.
Meanwhile, Doyle himself looked fit after his jail ordeal as he enjoyed a takeaway coffee.
Their home is estimated to be potentially worth anywhere from $2.4 million to up to $2.97 million.
Doyle’s lawyer, Philip Boulton QC, said at the time of his sentencing that his client was aware his life had veered off track.
“So long as he stays away from illicit drugs and those involved in the trade he is entirely unlikely to be involved in any criminal offences of any type again,” Mr Boulton told a court.
“He has the support of his wife and his family, who are prosocial and very, very concerned
“They’re here, they have been with him, they maintain strong connections to him – that’s boding well for the future.”
It comes a few days after images of Doyle celebrating his brother’s wedding emerged, with the pair otherwise keeping a low profile.
