One woman escaped fatal river crash, Richmond River recovery operation ongoing

Two men in their 20s have died and one woman has escaped after a car plunged off a bridge into a body of water in the Northern Rivers. A recovery operation has retrieved their vehicle.

Two men have died and a woman has narrowly escaped after a car plunged from a bridge into a body of water in NSW’s northern rivers.

The bodies of the two men, who are believed to be in their 20s, have been retrieved from a vehicle that crashed off a bridge on Droneys Bridge Rd at Fairy Hill north of Casino.

They are yet to be formally identified.

The single vehicle crash occurred around 10pm on Wednesday night.

Police Crash Investigators leaving Droneys Bridge Rd after two men lost their lives and one woman survived following a crash that plunged the trio into the Richmond River at Fairy Hill, north of Casino on Wednesday night.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, was able to escape the vehicle and Richmond Police District have reported she is uninjured.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
