Gladys Berejiklian is back on the beat to support the new Liberal Party candidate for Willoughby.

By-election for Berejiklian’s seat announced

Former premier Gladys Berejiklian has thrown her support behind the Liberal party’s candidate for Willoughby, Tim James.

In a video of the pair, released by the Liberal party, Ms Berejiklian said Mr James “will do a great job in representing all of us in moving forward together”.

Mr James won Liberal preselection to run for Willoughby earlier this month, ousting Ms Berejiklian’s preferred candidate, former Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney.

Mr James won the preselection vote 58 votes to Ms Giles-Gidney’s 52 despite the former Willoughby Mayor earning Ms Berejiklian’s endorsement.

Ms Berejiklian joined Mr James on the campaign trail in Northbridge to endorse his candidacy.

“I love this community and I know Tim James, the new candidate for Willoughby loves it just as much,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Mr James, the Menzies Research Centre’s Executive General Manager, is from the Liberal party’s right faction.

Ms Berejiklian hails from the left.
