Broadcaster Ray Hadley has sensationally outed former premier Gladys Berejiklian as leaking against Dominic Perrottet and his approach to dealing with Covid.
In a fiery exchange with the new Premier, Hadley dramatically claimed Ms Berejiklian, and current members of Mr Perrottet’s team, have leaked information out of crisis cabinet because they are angry about the government’s current approach.
The 2GB veteran made the shock claim ex-leader Ms Berejiklian had warned him that Mr Perrottet was “intent” on ending Covid restrictions on the unvaccinated in mid-December.
The plan to ease restrictions on the unvaccinated was announced when Ms Berejiklian was still premier after being decided by senior ministers including Mr Perrottet.
“You were part of the team that were trying to push the December 15 date (to scrap restrictions), whether you deny it or not, because that comes straight from her to me,” Hadley told the Premier.
“You deny it, I’m telling you she (Gladys Berejiklian) says that you were part of the push to get the brakes released on December 15, and when you became Premier you were intent on doing it.”
A source close to Ms Berejiklian said she had not been in contact or communication with Hadley since she resigned as Premier.
The radio host also claimed senior government members were leaking information to him because they were “not happy” with their new leader.
Hadley alleged that the Premier told his ministers that he would not “cave in” to NSW Health by reimposing indoor mask rules.
“What you’ve got to understand, Dominic, is that there are people leaking to me because they’re not happy with you,” Hadley said.
“You said: ‘we won’t cave in to NSW Health on masks,’ you said that after the reshuffle.
“Now it‘s no good denying it, I know you said it.”
Mr Perrottet denied the allegation. He announced the return of an indoor mask mandate on December 23.
“During the entire pandemic we‘ve made decisions, sometimes they’ve been unpopular,” Mr Perrottet said.
“As we move forward and move back at various points in time, I don‘t see those as backflips, I see those as adjusting to the circumstances we find ourselves in.”
Hadley also claimed Mr Perrottet had called him a “bedwetter” at a Christmas drinks function for MPs, which the Premier declared he had ”no recollection” of.
Mr Perrottet “disagreed” with Hadley on claims NSW had lost its status as the gold standard of how to handle the pandemic nationally and globally.
“If you look at every state we are all dealing with the same challenge, but what sets NSW and our country apart has been our high vaccination rate,” he said.
“That‘s where our position of strength is, if you look at our ICU and hospitalisation position compared to anywhere else in the world.”
