Finks bikies, Hamzy brothers allegedly involved in prison assault
Five men have been charged after Finks bikie members and two Hamzy brothers were accused of being involved in a jailhouse assault over an alleged drug debt.

Members of The Finks bikie club and two Hamzy brothers are among a gang of prisoners who have been accused of kicking, punching and stomping on a fellow inmate before slamming a cell door on his hand over an alleged drug debt.
The brutal jailhouse assault took place on May 4 at the Shortland Correctional Centre with the attack understood to have been led by one inmate with others looking on or joining in.
A prison source said the group of five included members of The Finks, an outlaw motorcycle club formed in Adelaide with chapters across Australia.
The source said it was not clear if the two Hamzy brothers were related to Brothers 4 Life founder Bassam Hamzy.
The source said the assaulted inmate required emergency surgery in hospital after the attack, although was released back to prison two days later.
A Corrective Services NSW spokesman said an investigation was underway by both the department and NSW Police.
Six inmates involved in the incident had also been placed in segregation.
“The victim suffered multiple injuries and spent two days in hospital,” the spokesman said.
“Six inmates were placed in segregation and the matter is under investigation by Corrective Services NSW and NSW Police.”
A NSW Police spokesperson said five man had been charged following an alleged assault a prison in the Hunter earlier this month.
Police will allege that a 27-year-old male inmate was assaulted several times by a number of other inmates, before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to injuries to his face and hands.
Hunter Valley Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police have charged a 31-year-old man with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Maitland Local Court on Wednesday May 18.
A 30-year-old man was also charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday June 29.
A 43-year-old man and 24-year-old man were each charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company while a 27-year-old man was charged with common assault.
