A rising TikTok comedian has hit a nerve by sending up well-known podcaster Abbie Chatfield in several recent online parodies, but says she stands by her style and has “no regrets”.

Lisa Jane Spencer said her take on Chatfield’s podcast It’s A Lot and her hosting gig on reality TV series FBoy Island involves pointing out what she says are “contradictions”.

The 30-year-old comedian has since faced Chatfield’s wrath in a recent podcast episode, where the top influencer clapped back and called Spencer’s parodies of her “unfunny”.

Ms Spencer transitioned into comedy after ten years as a singer songwriter and music producer when she realised “none of it really went anywhere”.

After a year and a half and more than 130 parodies posted, she has certainly struck many people’s funny bones but not so with Chatfield.

Chatfield used her podcast platform to respond to the parodies, specifically one of Ms Spencer’s lines: “Women can’t be sexist towards men because men started it”.

“That’s not at all the argument, I’ve never said that,” Chatfield said.

But Spencer has defended her comedy style and her belief that no one is off-limits.

“I have no regrets, absolutely none,” Ms Spencer said.

“Comedy is about laughing at everything because I think it makes us realise there’s no one above or below us.”

When Spencer initially came across Chatfield online she noticed what she describes as Chatfield’s contradictions, starting with body autonomy.

“She’s all for bodily autonomy, she’s very big on abortion rights but when it came to Covid vaccinations she was very hardcore that everyone should be vaccinated,” Spencer said.

“I was never attacking her image or anything like that, and my intention was just to point out the contradictions.”

Despite the online back and forth, the comedian has not been deterred.

“I just know in my heart that I need to keep going,” Spencer said.
