The pandemic has prevented Camilla Franks from being at Miami Swim Week in person but the Aussie designer’s presence was more than felt at the major international fashion show over the weekend.

Franks watched on virtually as her models took to the runway for the annual fashion show in the US, considered the pinnacle event for resort style swimwear.

But she was not the only Aussie barred from the event, with model Shanina Shaik unable to take to the catwalk for Franks’ show due to Covid travel restrictions.

“I’m so proud to be an Aussie brand colouring the world and showing at Miami Swim is a real milestone moment for our growth in the States,” Franks said.

“We’ve seen a lot of big juicy international love for Camilla for a while now, but it has really ramped up this US summer.”

The brand is stocked at up-market department store retailers in the US including Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Franks has also opened two stand-alone stores in the US, one in Los Angeles and the other in Miami.

Today, she is announcing a third American store to open in Dallas this month.

“We are opening in a few weeks, it is going to be bigger than Texas,” she said.

At Miami Swim Week, Franks showcased her new Time Trippin resort and swim collection.

“It’s an homage to all artists, lovers, poets, architects and dreamers of times past,” Franks said.

“It’s a salute to summer bursting with hypnotic colour, psychedelic prints and mesmerising embellishment that glistens in the sun.

“It’s fun and exciting for me to get back to my roots and celebrate the iconic Camilla swim and resort offering.”

The Australian brand is favoured by such celebrities as Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Sofia Vergara and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who posted the designs to her millions of followers last week.
