TERRITORIAN Jeremy Hayward won silver at the Tokyo Olympics as part of a Kookaburras squad that fought on until the final whistle in the men’s hockey final against Belgium.
Hayward has been an integral part of the Kookaburras squad for many years and was no less vital in their Olympics charge.

The group didn’t quite get it done against Belgium losing 3-2 in the shootout but gave it their all along the way.
A hefty shot from Hayward that could have proved the difference was one of many deflected by Belgium’s goalkeeper Vincent Vanasch.
However, a Territorian winning silver is a massive achievement and surely all the eyes of the Territory hockey community were peeled to their screens for the entire final.
Australia finished top of Group A winning four and drawing one of their group stage games, mirroring Belgium’s record in Group B.
They went on to beat Netherlands in the shootout in the quarter finals and beat Germany 3-1 in the semi-finals.
