TERRITORY Hockeyroos’ star Brooke Peris has opened her Tokyo Olympics goal-scoring account netting in Australia’s 6-0 demolition of China in today’s Pool B game.
Peris scored in the first minute of the third quarter to make the Hockeyroos’ lead 3-0 when she smashed a bouncing ball into the turf and up into the net again from close range..
It was a comfortable day’s work for the Aussies who will face host nation Japan in their next match on Wednesday.
Australia now sits at the top of Group B.
The Hockeyroos are fourth on the International Hockey Federation world rankings, with China ranked in 11th place.
Peris is no stranger to the Olympics having made her debut on sports biggest stage in the 2016 Rio Games.
The Hockeyroos made it to the quarter finals on that occasion with New Zealand ending their potential medal run.
