The Nightcliff women chased down victory from the claws of defeat beating an exciting Tiwi Bombers outfit to go second on the NTFL Women Premier League table.
A classic match that was neck and neck for all four quarters was emphatically won by the women in yellow and black to keep their unbeaten run alive.
It was the right boot of first-gamer Tshinta Kendall that sealed a memorable 5.8 (38) to 4.9 (33) victory over the Bombers.
Tiwi got off to a red-hot start stunning their foes with their immense workrate off the ball, particularly in attacking phases.
Nightcliff and the Bombers were lamentable in scoring chances for the second, neither team could buy a goal as both were determined to stick to the plan and defend one another to death.
However, Tiwi’s chase down defence made life difficult for the Tigers, forcing the contest into an arm wrestle and ruining many a chance at a Nightcliff goal.
Nightcliff came into the final quarter several goals behind due to a late score in the third from Alana Barba and hard work around the ground from the likes of Maria Rioli.
However, their fitness showed as they drove it home later with Charlotte D’Ambrosio and Cassie McWilliam scoring.
Those scores came about as the Tigers took full advantage of umpiring decisions in their favour and just as the final hooter ran Tigers’ debutant Kendall was awarded a free 15m out from the sticks.
With bated breath the crowd and players fell silent as they watched the 32 jumper kick the ball with swagger down the centre.
Tigers players and support staff quickly ran onto the field to swarm the match winner as Tiwi fell to the floor in disbelief that their four points were snatched from under their noses.
Christy Landwehr was one of the top performers from the matching and was sporting a smile ear to ear after celebrating the goal.
“That was incredible, honestly that was so nerve racking and I didn’t even have the ball, I can’t believe we just won that,” she said.
“We started poorly and then got back a bit to be within distance before the break.
“We are lucky that Tiwi had some missed kicks otherwise we would have had a much bigger number to chase into the fourth, we were loose in defence but got away with it.
“Then we just all again dug deep and stuck to the assignment and even though it’s not how we would’ve liked to win, there’s nothing better than winning at the death.”

PREVIEW
The undefeated Tigers women return to the field in Round 5, with their sights set on a high-flying Tiwi Bombers.
The NT News and KommunityTV will stream every moment of the clash from 2pm on Saturday.
The Bombers got the chance to show off their silky skills in front of a huge crowd last week in the AFLW curtain raiser, and they will be carrying plenty of momentum out of their second-straight win.
Maria Rioli will again be the one to keep an eye on after her thrilling performance and a final quarter torpedo goal that gained plenty of attention, right across the nation.
But the afterglow of last weekend’s result will be short-lived against a hungry Tigers side eager to prove they can be a force in the 2025 season.
The Tigers are coming back from a weekend off the fields, and with a 3-0 record to start the season, will be keen to keep building on their past performances.
Cassie McWilliam kicked four goals in their last outing, while the likes of Gabrielle Deller have had a strong start to the season.
