New fishing and boating app, NT Fishing and Boating Mate, to help find your biggest catch

Top End fishos and boaties will be better equipped to snag their next big catch with the launch of a new mobile phone app.
NT Fishing and Boating Mate, the redesigned version of NT Fishing Mate, will provide anglers with all the tools for the best day out on the water, or maybe to hook the lucrative $1m fish.
The app, designed by local company Digitally Buzzed, features the Territory’s fishing and boating rules, tide and wind information, safe boating information and most importantly, the best fishing times.
New features in the redesigned version include access to current location, tidal and wind information, as well as links to the Bureau of Meteorology website for more detailed forecasts.
Agribusiness and Fisheries Minister Paul Kirby said the app was to ensure all Territorians and tourists were aware of fishing and boating rules in the NT.
“This NT Fishing and Boating Mate app is a one-stop online and offline tool providing all the up-to-date information Territory anglers and boaties need for a safe, compliant, enjoyable day on the water,’ Mr Kirby said.
To help launch the app a two-month competition will be running, with users able to go in the running to win a Yeti Cooler.
To enter the draw app users need to use the app’s mapping and reporting function.
The details of a location will be published on the NT Fisheries social media with a pin provided on the app’s map.
Users who upload a photo from the location via the app’s reporting function will enter the draw.
Amateur Fishermen’s Association of the Northern Territory chief executive David Ciaravolo said the app had new features anglers would find useful.
“It’s always important for fishers to be up to date on fishing and boating rules and the App puts all that info at your fingertips,” he said.
