Territory Covid-related deaths rise to 59

The NT’s Covid death toll has risen after three men, each from the Greater Darwin area, died in hospital.

UPDATE, August 18: Three people have died of Covid, each with underlying health conditions, as more than 150 people have reported positive cases.

NT Health said three men, each aged in their 60s, 80s and 90s and all from the Greater Darwin area, had underlying health conditions.

They died in the Royal Darwin Hospital.

“The total number of Covid-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic is 62,” NT Health said.

“There were 154 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 4pm on August 17 2022.

“There are currently 40 patients in hospital.

“There are five patients requiring oxygen and one patient is in ICU.”

The number of active cases in the NT is 1028.

August 10: The Territory has recorded its 59th Covid-related death since the pandemic began.

The man in his 70s from Alice Springs had underlying health conditions and passed away at the hospital.

A woman in her 90s, who also had underlying health conditions, died at home in the Greater Darwin region.

There were 184 new cases of Covid recorded in the last reporting period.

There are 43 people in hospital, four needing oxygen and two people in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 1361.

UPDATE, August 8: A MAN in his 90s has passed away due to Covid at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

It takes the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in the Territory to 57.

It comes as 176 new cases were recorded in the last reporting period and less than a week after the last death.

Two people are currently in ICU and 32 patients in hospital.

The overall number of active cases in the Territory has dropped to 1724.

UPDATE August 3: A woman in her 70s has become the 56th person in the Territory to die with Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

The woman was from the Greater Darwin area and had underlying health issues.

She passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital.

It brings the total number of Covid related deaths to 56.

The NT also recorded 366 new cases of the virus in the 24 hours to 4pm on August 2.

There are currently 57 infected people in Territory hospitals, with eight patients requiring oxygen and one person in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 2102.

UPDATE July 28: A man in his 70s has died with Covid-19.

The man, from Katherine, had underlying health issues and died at home with the virus.

The latest death brings the total number of Covid deaths in the Territory since the start of the pandemic to 55.

The news comes as the Territory recorded 454 new cases of Covid-19.

There are also 61 people in Territory hospitals with the virus, with no one in intensive care.

The number of cases in the NT is 2941.

Covid hospitalisations rise to 70

COVID hospitalisations in the Territory have risen to 70 with one person in the ICU, new data reveals.

It comes as almost 700 hundred people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 3659 active cases across the Territory, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 87,009.

The high numbers come just a day after acting chief health officer Charles Pain called on Territorians to wear masks as numbers skyrocket.

East Arnhem man in his 60s dies with Covid-19

A man in his 60s has died with Covid-19.

The man, from East Arnhem, had underlying health conditions and died at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

It takes the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in the NT to 54 since the start of the pandemic.

The news comes as the Territory recorded 424 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours to 4pm July 15, 2022.

There are currently 61 patients in hospital, including seven requiring oxygen and two in the ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 2833.
