A SINKHOLE along Myers Street triggered an emergency response on Monday morning.
State Emergency Service workers were called to reports of a small sinkhole near Moorabool Street in Geelong around 10.30am.
A spokeswoman said the Geelong unit was dispatched following reports of a vehicle driving over a sinkhole on the road.
The hole was reportedly 3m deep and about 30cm wide at the opening.
The SES spokeswoman said the issue instead referred to Barwon Water, who late yesterday confirmed a break in the sewer pipe at the nearby manhole junction.
Traffic continued to be diverted around the hole late on Monday and motorists were advised to avoid Myers Street near the corner of Moorabool St if possible.
Barwon Water said further repairs were scheduled for Tuesday.
