THE MOHAMAD family has regarded visiting Santa at the shopping centre to be a highlight each happy season, but sudden changes to border restrictions meant Santa had to come to them.
Mohamad Mohamad is known for his charity cars restoration fundraiser raffles and often champions the Christmas spirit.
But his children Leila, 7, Jasmine, 5, and Ali Mohamad, 3, nearly missed out on their favourite part of Christmas this year.
“We went to NSW to see family and we said we would do photos with Santa after we got back,” Mr Mohamad said.
But the recent Sydney COVID-19 cluster saw the family wind up in home quarantine.
However yesterday during day three of quarantine, the kids were greeted by a Christmas miracle as Santa Claus himself came to their house in Moonah and chatted to them from a safe distance outside the front of the home.
“Someone must have told Santa we weren’t able to go to him this year so he made a special visit just for them,” he said.
“I’m really grateful, you should have seen the kids’ faces – they were so happy.”
Santa visited all the way from Channel Court.
Leila Mohamad couldn’t believe her luck when the jolly North Pole resident showed up.
“I was really excited, it was a surprise,” she said.
“I asked for rollerskates and a camera and books.”
Leila is looking forward to Christmas in quarantine with her mum’s “really good” cooking and a house full of homemade decorations.
