A HOBART business that went all out for Christmas has been shocked by the theft of a Santa’s letterbox for local children.
Document Management Tasmania has turned its Montrose premises into a festive wonderland, hosting a block party on Sunday.
However human resources manager Susan Downham said the event featuring carnival rides and food vans had been welcomed by the community following a year of social gathering restrictions.
However Mrs Downham said staff were shocked on Monday to discover a letterbox provided for children to post letters to Santa had been stolen.
“We believe it went during the night they have just ripped it out and taken it. It’s no use to anyone, it’s signwritten with DM Tas,” she said.
“It’s just someone being a bit mean spirited.”
Mrs Downham said the letterbox was bolted on to concrete and it would have taken some force to remove it.
“They would have had to have a vehicle because it was heavy,” she said.
Mrs Downham said the business would install another letterbox behind the gates of the site allowing children to reach through and post their letters.
Police are investigating the theft.
