Robina: 22-year-old man in police custody after allegedly stealing tools, flipping a ute

A man is in custody after flipping a vehicle following a dramatic sequence of events which started with an alleged theft from a ute.

A MAN has been taken into police custody after allegedly stealing tools from a ute at a petrol station and flipping a vehicle as he tried to leave.

It’s alleged about 6.20pm on Thursday a man went to pay for fuel at a Robina petrol station on Cheltenham Drive when he noticed someone was taking tools from his ute.

He ran out and approached the man who had by then allegedly put the tools in his own ute and attempted to drive away.

The man jumped in the back of the alleged offenders’ ute tray in an attempt to stop the theft.

The ute was flipped when the driver attempted to leave the scene.

Paramedics were called to the crash but both men were uninjured.

Police have taken a 22-year-old man into police custody.
