A MAN who was stabbed multiple times and robbed of his mobile phone late Tuesday night was targeted by robbers, Tasmania Police believe.
Police are investigating the aggravated armed robbery on Langura Ave, Chigwell at around 11.30pm that night where a 36-year-old received multiple stab wounds and head injuries.
The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the shoulder and is in a stable condition.
It is alleged that two men forced entry into the residence armed with a knife. They stole a mobile phone and assaulted the 36-year-old before leaving the scene.
Police say the men went to great lengths to conceal their identity but one is described as 193cm tall, wearing a hooded jumper and a “COVID-19 surgical mask”.
Detective inspector Troy Morrisby from Glenorchy CIB believed the incident was targeted.
“It would seem the information to date would indicate the people responsible had targeted that address and that person in particular,” he said.
“As such … we don’t think the broader community is at risk.”
Det Insp Morrisby said police are not ruling out whether known to each other.
