TERRITORY police have issued a warning to motorists about the dangers of drink driving over the Christmas break following two alcohol-related crashes overnight.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Bruce Payne said police caught two drink drivers within an hour in Darwin on Sunday night.

Police responded to a traffic accident in Jingili, where a car had rolled into a building at 8.15pm.

“The 41-year-old driver was arrested, and she returned a high-range reading of .243 per cent,” Cdr Payne said.

“She was also unlicensed, there was no damage to the vehicle, and she was taken to the watch-house overnight.”

Police responded to another drink-driving incident shortly when a car crashed into a fence in Moulden at about 8.33pm.

“The 25-year-old female driver was uninjured, and she walked from the area,” Cdr Payne said.

“Police located her a short distance away, and she returned a high-range reading of .171 per cent.”
