Cyclones 101: what to expect this season

WHEN asked about how the impending cyclone season would impact the Northern Territory, Darwin tarot reader Manfred Zander drew the death card.

But in reading it with other cards drawn for the Territory’s 2021 outlook, it doesn’t necessarily spell death and destruction.

“There will be a cyclone, there could be even three but the cards are in cahoots,” he said. “According to my prediction with that cyclone card, we will manage these cyclones and I would predict it won’t be Category 5, maybe Category 3.”

Business-wise and in terms of the government and economy, the Territory appears set for a year of patience. Things might seem tough early on, but it will all lead to a healthy new beginning.

“The obstacle is everything needs more time,” Mr Zander said. “There will be an increase in military, patience is necessary … the government will have new ideas, good ideas and new plans.

“New plans are coming and setting a new direction for the Territory.”

Mr Zander’s reading said businesses may continue to struggle but those who learnt their lessons and adapted to government changes would benefit the most.

“The changes will bother many people. There will be many people who need support from the government, especially in business,” he said.

“People will be fighting hard for money. Everyone wants the most but we need to be patient.

“The cards say quite clearly many people will lose their business. But the outcome is new beginnings, good outlooks.”

While the cards wouldn't say if COVID-19 would breach the Territory community or not, the pandemic would continue to impact the NT. “The card says there will be a lot of problems,” he said.

“It’s a bad card. for coronavirus there will be a lot of fears. But we are fighting it and we will be good. The outcome says quite clearly that we stay healthy, it’s a healthy card.”

As for some quirkier topics, the Cavenagh St shade structure the cards read it will go well, the Olympics, which many will see as a celebration of global humanity when they resume in 2021, will be a success, while, somewhat unsurprisingly, the Dan Murphy’s development is predicted to have a long and challenging road ahead.
