CHAMPIONSHIP leader Scott McLaughlin has taken out the first of two Supercars races at Darwin’s Hidden Valley racetrack today to equal racing legend Peter Brock’s number of career victories on the all-time winner’s list.

McLaughlin (#17 Mustang) could now pass Brock’s career record of 48 victories if he wins the final of the three BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown’s weekend races this afternoon.
But he remains well behind the incredible all-time career record of 116 race wins currently held by Jamie Whincup (#88 ZB Commodore), who came in 1.4 seconds behind McLaughlin to take out second place in today’s race.

It marked a return to the podium for the championship-leading duo after both finished down the order on Saturday after suffering uncharacteristic time penalties.
The heavyweight duo continue to hold down the top two spots in the Virgin Australia Supercars championship standings.

“Sorry to the guys there for yesterday but glad I was able to bounce back,” said McLaughlin after today’s race.
A third and final 38-lap race will complete the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown this afternoon.

Local Darwin-born driver, Bryce Fullwood (#2 ZB Commodore), making his debut at his home track as a Supercars driver this weekend, crossed the finish line in 18th place
