A SUITE of Territory Day events have been laid out with Territorians urged to choose the celebration that best suits them and turn up for the big day.

Tourism Minister Lauren Moss revealed the key birthday events, including one with the NT News, that would help Territorians mark our 42 years a little differently this year.

“Support your mates, support Territory businesses, support our entertainment sector and support our heroes,” Ms Moss has urged.

And that’s exactly what the NT News will be doing in our special pull-out souvenir Territory Day edition, which will include a Territory flag, and the Territory’s 42 Most Memorable Moments.

Something sure to test everyone’s Territory Day appetite is the Territory 10,000 initiative that kicks off on June 24 and aims to get 10,000 meals sold in the run-up to Territory Day in support of our hard-hit hospitality sector.

Order from your favourite participating eatery (takeaway counts too) to be in with the chance to win some great prizes.

If you own an eatery, add your business to the list of participating venues for your chance to win.

Territorians will also be able to nominate COVID heroes, who have stood tall in the face of our pandemic shutdown.

Students can join in celebrating the next generation of Territorians through the Territory Day school video competition.

The NT Government wants them to submit a short video by June 19 about their love for the NT, with the Territory’s Black Rock Band providing the soundtrack.

Channel 9, Imparja and the ABC will have Territory Day events.

On Nine and Imparja there will be Some Like it Hot, where you’ll hear the stories as told through the eyes of different generations of Territorians.

Through the ABC you can vote in Music NT’s Territory Sounds Countdown.

ABC Darwin, ABC Alice Springs and community radio partners will broadcast the countdown.
