A Pacific Fair spokeswoman said their new uniformed COVID Safe Crew were patrolling the centre to encourage physical distancing, and ensure customers follow window signage and floor decals around the centre.

Along with the new crew, there will be more than double the standard cleaning and security staff working throughout the holiday period.

Robina Town Centre has also introduced social distancing ambassadors, while Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre has novelty Christmas entertainment to remind shoppers to keep socially distanced and sanitised.

The Queensland government advises when at shopping malls, customers should keep 1.5 metres away from others and allow one person per two square metres. Sanitisation and customer contact tracing is still advised.
