Home to Roy’s by Gemelli, it is a popular dining spot and once counted Mayor Tom Tate as one of its nearby neighbours.
Under plans filed with the Gold Coast City Council this week, the 1980s-era complex will increase its floorspace to create a new tenancy which could include a 100 sqm bar, food and drink outlet, shop, gym, healthcare or vet’s office.

The developer has also proposed revamping the nearby Clontarf Corner park to make it usable to local residents.
The planning report notes that the existing park is “largely unused” because it features “no embellishments, shading or seating”.
New playground equipment and landscaping have been pitched to council as part of the revamp.
The developer met with council in July to discuss the project, with planning staff showing support for the proposal.
