THE Abedians, of Sunland Group fame, are off to the beach after an $11 million buy in Mermaid Beach’s Multi-Millionaires’ Row.
Nava, wife of Sunland managing-director Sahba Abedian, has bought a twin-title 900sqm beachfront Hedges Ave lot.
Demolition of the older-style two-level house on the lot started late last week.
The buy comes six months after the couple’s penthouse in the Sunland-built Abian tower in Brisbane sold for $5 million.
Sahba Abedian and his father, Sunland co-founder Soheil, already have staked a presence in Hedges Ave – they are buyers in the 44-level 272 Hedges building which Sunland has under way.
Sahba’s sister Mona and husband Riaz Rezvanipour are partners, with a Brisbane party, in a site on the western side of Hedges Ave on which a five-level duplex is planned.

Nava Abedian’s $11 million buy is at 141 Hedges Ave and the seller is minerals explorer John Lynch, who bought the property for $821,000 in 1988.
The house has a 22.5 metre frontage to the beach and is neighboured by the home of developer Tim Gordon and the eight-unit Parthenon low-rise.
Property records show the off-market Abedian buy was agreed to in April and settled on May 22.
No Abedian comment was available on the plans for the property and whether it would be used for a family home or for spec homes.
The agents who are believed to have handled the deal, prestige property agent Harry Kakavas and Kollosche agency’s Ryan Ward, yesterday would not comment on it.
The Abedian transaction is the latest in a $50 million-plus run of Hedges Ave beachfront sales in the past few weeks.
The sales have included a $25 million deal on the home of BreakFree travel founder Tony Smith and wife Simone and the $11.25 million paid for former cotton farmer Alan Frost’s Harry Seidler-influenced house.
