Police are reportedly investigating whether members of a crime family are linked to a brazen drive-by shooting in a Sydney beachside suburb.

Three men stood near a parked car ducked for cover and managed to avoid injury after an individual in an Audi SUV fired multiple shots in Sydney’s south, at about 3.15pm on Tuesday.

Police were told the Audi turned into The Boulevarde from The Grand Parade before the unknown offender shot in the direction of the men.

The trio and the Audi left the scene before police arrived.

Now it’s believed the men who were shot at have links to the Alameddine crime clan and associate gang KVT, police and underworld sources told The Daily Telegraph.

Police are also understood to be investigating whether the trio were lured to the location, the publication reports.

A woman named Susan told 2GB she and her husband were driving along The Grand Parade when they witnessed two men “dodging bullets”.

“Two men were standing behind a car, like in a boot … pulling goods out or whatever they were doing,” she told the radio station.

“And then a car driving past them, shooting at them, and then the guys were just scattering around trying to dodge bullets.

“Then the car sped off and was speeding through all the traffic heading up north towards Bestic Street.”

Another witness told 7Newsthey heard multiple popping sounds, which they initially mistook as fireworks.

Police have established separate crime scenes at Brighton Le Sands and Narwee.

“An investigation into both incidents has commenced,” police said.
