A stolen Holden Commodore ute and a green Commodore wagon were allegedly chased or tracked from about 8am to 1pm in between Geelong and Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Police then monitored the vehicle as it allegedly travelled erratically around Geelong and the western suburbs.

It was then spotted at a Geelong shopping centre before those involved allegedly fled and stole a green wagon.

Police pursued and three of those aboard were arrested after allegedly trying to carjack another vehicle.

The driver, a 22 year old Corio man, was detained soon after at a farming property off the Hamilton Highway at Inverleigh.

A Bendigo man, 29, a Maryborough woman, 26, and a teenage girl 17, were taken into custody.

The driver was charged with 19 theft of motor vehicle and dangerous driving related matters. He was also charged with aggravated carjacking in relation to an incident on 15 January.

He has been remanded to appear before Geelong Magistrate’s Court on 24 January.

The teenager was charged with five offences relating to criminal damage and dangerous driving matters.

She was remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

The Bendigo man, has been charged with 14 offences including two counts of dangerous driving while pursued by police, theft, theft of motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, careless driving, driving in a manner dangerous, reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, failing to render assistance after an accident, criminal damage and resisting police.

He has been remanded to appear before Geelong Magistrate’s Court today.

The Maryborough woman was released without charge.

Police had earlier warned other drivers to be vigilant.

“We ask the community to be mindful and cautious on roads within the area,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

“Any motorists who see the vehicle are urged not to engage it or the occupants.”
