WESTERN suburbs crime boss Fadi Haddara sold ice to undercover police during his own six-year drug binge.
The 37-year-old former kick-boxing champion was jailed this morning for running a drug and firearms racket from his western suburbs factory.
“You were head of the syndicate and used associates and underlings to conduct your illegal activities,” said County Court Judge Felicity Hampel.
Between September 2012 until his arrest in March 2014, the father-of-five sold 400 grams of ice worth $155,000 to covert operatives from the anti-gang Santiago taskforce.
JUDGE SAYS MULTIPLE WIVES WILL KEEP HADDARA FROM FLEEING
Covert surveillance of the factory showed him playing with handguns, including a time when one accidentally fired sending his associates ducking for cover.
Footage also captured Haddara beating a man for selling drugs without his permission.
Judge Hampel said Haddara’s drug use and criminal activity escalated after his brother was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2009 that he believed was carried out by members of the rival Chaouk family.
Haddara, who has an extensive criminal history, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the shooting, but has repeatedly refused treatment.
“You failed to take advantage of the many opportunities in life you have been given,” Judge Hampel said.
Haddara was jailed for 23 months and will be place on a community corrections order with strict drug treatment conditions for three years upon his release.
