An alleged victim of Jonathan Dick has revealed the bizarre reason which led to him falling out with the fugitive.
David Cammarata played a leading role in the dramatic arrest of one of Victoria’s most wanted men in the CBD on Monday.
But Mr Cammarata said at one point in time, he was “probably as close to (Mr Dick) as his brother”.
“We went to the same high school, grew up together, same town,” he told A Current Affair.
But the friendship ended in ridiculously petty fashion.
“At the end, oddly enough, it was mainly over a pizza,” Mr Cammarata said. “He wanted a medium pizza, and I got him a large.”
Mr Dick allegedly killed his own brother with a samurai sword in 2017 and last year allegedly attacked Mr Cammarata with a hammer outside his former friend’s family home in Keilor.
Mr Cammarata hired private bodyguards to protect his family during this period.
The father of three said he was extremely grateful to security company Monjon for watching over him and his family.
“Our team were called in which we were very happy to help his (Mr Cammarata) family and help him out. They were under some pretty trying and stressful times,” Monjon boss John Moncrieff told 3AW on Thursday.
”Our team did a great job. David’s happy.
“Over the journey with the gentleman at large, it was an extended period of time and we continued to look after (Mr Cammarata’s) family.”
Mr Moncrieff said his team never saw Mr Dick during his time wanted by police.
“We had marked vehicles at the front of the property,” he said.
“There were other techniques we deployed to make sure David and the family were safe.”
Mr Cammarata said he was recently told of a potential sighting of Mr Dick in the carpark he uses each day for work.
As he stepped out of his car on Monday, he saw Mr Dick out of the corner of his eye.

By sheer coincidence, his colleague and family member, Dion Raiola, arrived at the same time and helped him chase down the wanted fugitive.
“I always thought he was going to come back for me and I’ve had to psych myself back up for war,” Mr Cammarata told the Herald Sun this week.
