A FIERCE rival of bikie enforcer Toby Mitchell described by police as a senior Middle Eastern crime figure has failed in his bid for bail because a magistrate believes he is a threat to the community.
Nabil “Mad Leb” Maghnie, 42, has been on remand since February after police matched his DNA to a rifle with a silencer they seized from an associate’s house, where other high-powered guns and drugs were found.

Maghnie — one-time suspect in the shooting of Mitchell — told Magistrate Jelena Popovic he was a changed man who wanted to return to his family.
But Ms Popovic said changed bail laws meant Maghnie must prove exceptional circumstances and she was not satisfied he would behave given his repeated past offences.
Maghnie has a long history of violent offending including assaults, affray and making threats to kill.
The court heard that while on remand Maghnie was involved in a fight with another inmate at the Melbourne Remand Centre in July.
He was fined $50 by prison authorities for the incident.
Maghnie will contest the gun charges at a later date.
