THE young man who was killed in a Roxburgh Park shooting has been farewelled, just hours after a second firearms incident in the same suburb.

Friends and family have paid their respects to Anwar Teriaki with prayers held at Preston Mosque.

The 21-year-old was shot dead in Coronet Ave in Roxburgh Park at 12.30am on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the teenage victims of a Roxburgh Park shooting are refusing to co-operate with police amid fears of retribution in a war between Middle Eastern crime figures.

Police believe this morning’s gun violence stemmed from an ongoing feud between two groups.

They have not discovered links to the murder of Mr Teriaki in the same suburb two days ago.

Two teens, aged 16 and 18, were shot in the leg multiple times when two groups of men fought in Orion Way about 2.30am.

Two men, aged 20 from Dallas, suffered head and facial injuries after being bashed during the fight.

Three victims were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, while one of the older men was treated at the scene with facial injuries and refused to go to hospital for further treatment.

Detective Acting Inspector Mark Burnett said the victims may have “fears of possible retribution”.

“We are frustrated that the victims aren’t co-operating as much as we would like,” Inspector Burnett said.

It’s believed a group of men armed with a handgun arrived in Orion Way and faced off with a rival group.

Police wouldn’t say if it was believed to be a planned meeting or whether the men involved were known to police.

Inspector Burnett said the shooting was targeted.

“It was a confronting incident,” he said.

“We believe that there is a dispute between two groups and we’re continuing with our inquiries based on that scenario.

“We don’t believe this is related (to the Homicide investigation).

“We believe in relation to this incident that it’s Middle Eastern factions involved.”

The two teens were shot a number of times in the leg while the older men suffered “blunt force trauma” to the head and face.

Insp Burnett said the community should be assured the Armed Crime Squad and Firearms investigators were “working very hard” to solve the crime and that local police would up their patrols in the area.

The street where the shooting happened is positioned opposite Good Samaritan Primary School.

Concerned parents dropping their kids off this morning said they would like more surveillance in the area.

“Personally, I’d like more police patrolling here so these incidents stop happening,” Allan Goodwin said.

Mounted police have arrived to Orion Way to assure concerned residents the neighbourhood is safe.

A pair of shoes and bullet shells remains outside a cul-de-sac property in Roxburgh Park, just 48 hours after a 21-year-old was shot dead a few kilometres away.

Neighbours say they heard gunshots in the early hours of this morning.

Caterina Santos said she heard “loud shots” that sounded like fireworks but knew it was gunshots.

“I’m in shock, I can’t believe it really,” she said.

“I’m not feeling safe.”

Ms Santos said her family have made complaints to the council about hoons in the street but admitted “nothing has been done”.

“They normally hoon late at night,” she said.

“They’re pretty loud and disruptive.”
