The arrest comes as a pair of innocent teenage mates have been praised for remaining calm during the “terrifying” ordeal overnight, which left the youths shaken but unharmed.
The innocent teenagers, aged 17 and 18, were rammed by abusive thugs and forced to abandon their red Holden sedan at Waterfall Gully Rd around 12.15am today.
The thugs had been aggressively tailing the victims and screaming at them to get out of the car, according to police.
Police were told a burgundy or red older model 4WD tried to run the victim’s vehicle off the road before colliding with their vehicle.
A short time later, the Holden veered off the road and the two male teenagers fled on foot.
They were chased away from their sedan by up to four offenders who then took off in the car.
The Holden, which contained the victims’ wallets and power tools, was found a short time later burnt out on Trumans Road.
Mornington crime investigation unit detective Sergeant Peter Drake said the young men showed common sense during the “terrifying” incident.
“The victims have done the right thing, they’ve just tried to disengage and leave the scene,” he said.
“They were literally being chased by the offending vehicle so when they couldn’t get away from them they’ve just pulled up and ran.
“They are understandably very shaken by this and they’ve been fantastic with police.”
The attackers were driving a Toyota 4WD which had been stolen from a home in Rye on Tuesday night.
The victims described one attacker as aged in his twenties, clean-shaven with an Australian accent.

The offenders stole a wallet and phone before fleeing the scene in what is described as a vehicle similar to the one involved in the first incident.
One of the men involved is perceived to be of caucasian appearance with a medium build and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper over his head.
No other descriptions are available at this time.
No one was injured during the incidents.
