Victim Greg Mitchem died after he fell and hit his head outside the pub on the Goulburn Valley Highway just before midnight on October 20, 2017.

Following the brawl, devastated friends described Mr Mitchem as a “great bloke” and father who did not deserve to die.

His sudden death came as a huge shock to his family.

Mr Mitchem’s son, Harley, later posted a tribute on Facebook, including a picture of the pair together.

“Words can’t explain the type of Dad you were, true legend. You’re going to be missed Dad I love you,” he wrote.

Mr Mitchem was a life member at Karingal junior football club.

The teen appeared in the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court just before 4pm today.

He was bailed to reappear on September 24.
