THE State Coroner is investigating the death of exotic dancer Stacey Tierney, who died mysteriously in a Melbourne strip club.
Ms Tierney, 29, who it is suspected died of a drug overdose, was left for hours inside Dreams Gentlemen’s Club, before someone with access to the club called an ambulance on December 19. The underground club, in Elizabeth St, had been shut for 19 hours.
Coroner Sara Hinchey is yet to decide whether there will be an inquest.
Her investigation will run parallel to a police inquiry.
The Herald Sun reported on Wednesday that police investigators had arrested and released an Ascot Vale man, 33, who was due to be charged on summons with perjury.
POLICE SWOOP IN STRIPPER DEATH TWIST
Police have declined to discuss how the UK dancer died but they confirmed they are examining whether drugs were used at the club on the night.
They have interviewed club managers, colleagues, and customers who spent time at Dreams, or with Ms Tierney.
Ms Tierney’s family in Manchester, England, were told she had worked on the night of Saturday, December 17, but did not return home.
