Russell St bomber and court time-waster Craig Minogue will meet with jailers

KILLER and court pest Craig Minogue will meet with his jailers to discuss yet more complaints about his treatment behind bars.

The Russell Street bombing

MAD bomber Craig “Fatty” Minogue will get a chance to whine to his jailers directly about his treatment on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Minogue, 55, has spent the past 31 years behind bars for the 1986 blast outside the Russell Street Police Headquarters that killed 21-year-old Constable Angela Taylor and injured 22 others.

He appeared in the Supreme Court today via videolink from Barwon Prison where he was again bleating about unfair treatment behind bars.

Minogue, who is referred to as doctor by the court, believes the prison is unfairly restricting his longwinded letters to just 10 pages and denying him the right to send letters to his lawyers.

Minogue is a regular time waster at the Supreme Court.

In September last year he brought on a matter after being denied access to tarot cards and an Aldi catalogue sent to him in jail by a family member.

In that hearing, he claimed “administrative bastardry and abuse of power” by Barwon Prison authorities has hindered his “new found interest in the spiritual and religious aspects of Paganism”.

Justice Timothy Ginnane today ordered Corrections Victoria to meet with Minogue in an effort to save court time and costs.

“It seems sensible if these cases can be resolved, they should be,” he said.

Minogue told the court he would be happy to sit down and speak with his jailers about the issue in the hope of avoiding a Supreme Court trial.

Lawyers for Corrections Victoria argued Minogue had been dealt with lawfully and appropriately.

But Justice Ginnane ordered legal representatives from Corrections Victoria meet with Minogue by May in the hope of resolving the matter.

Minogue, who calls himself “an academic by occupation, but a prisoner for the time being” was awarded a PhD in applied ethics, human and social services by La Trobe University in 2012.

He became eligible for parole in 2016, but public outcry saw Premier Daniel Andrews introduce retrospective laws stripping anyone convicted of killing a police officer of the right to parole.
