The shooting, which occurred shortly after 3am on July 8 when police critical incident response team members stormed the King St venue, has sparked multiple investigations and a lawsuit.

The armed crime squad are in charge of the probe, overseen by professional standards command.

Police say it received a report of a man armed with a firearm in an upstairs room of the nightclub before the shooting incident.

Shooting victim Dale Ewins, 35, had taken a toy gun to the dress-up party — the couple dressing as the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Mr Ewins, 35, who was shot to the torso, 37-year-old Craigieburn woman Zita Sukys, who was with Ewins at the time, also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Both were conveyed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police say no-one has been charged in relation to the incident but the probe remains ongoing.

Victoria Police will also provide assistance to anti-corruption watchdog IBAC as part of their inquiry.

Police are asking anyone who was at the premises on the night and is yet to speak to police to come forward.
