VICTORIA Police has appointed a replacement for Brett Guerin, the anti-corruption chief who resigned after a storm over online comments.
Commander Russell Barrett has been appointed the new assistant commissioner at the force’s professional standards command section.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said: “Commander Barrett is an experienced senior leader. Russell’s depth and breadth of experience will add value to his command and to the command team as a whole.
Assistant Commissioner Tess Walsh, who has led the force’s western region for the past three years has been selected as the new head of crime command.
She replaces Assistant Commissioner Steve Fontana, who will take over as chief information officer.
That place had been held by Assistant Commissioner Jack Blayney, who will retire later this year.
The new western region assistant commissioner is Commander Cindy Millen.
The appointments take effect next Monday.
