A man is in police custody after a spat in a shopping centre carpark turned violent during the busy Boxing Day sales, following reports of a man shouting “he took my spot”.

A man is in police custody after a spat in a shopping centre carpark turned violent during the busy Boxing Day sales.
Two men began arguing in the carpark outside a homemaker centre at Highpoint Shopping Centre this afternoon.
Victoria Police Sgt Cameron Scott said police were called to Maribyrnong after the fight just after 2.30pm.
“A man has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries,” Sgt Scott said.

“A man has been arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.”
However, callers to 3AW reported the argument stemmed from road rage.
HIGHPOINT: Callers report a road rage incident which has occurred in the Highpoint carpark today. Paramedics confirm they've been called to Rosamond Road at 2:50pm. A man in his 40s was taken by ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with upper body injuries. @3AW693

One caller, Marc said the two men were “screaming” at each other.
“There was one bloke reaching into another car taking swings, next minute he’s down on the ground with a bit of blood on him,” Marc told Justin Smith.
“Next thing the driver is yelling, ‘He took my spot, he’s trying to take my spot!’”
Another caller, Lisa, said she was frightened by the incident.
“I actually thought it was a hold-up,” she said.
“It was really quite scary.”
