During the brief hearing the court was told the “extent of the assault” on Ms Dixon was still unclear.
“It’s difficult to know whether there will be additional charges,” Christina Teague for the prosecution said.
Mr Todd nodded and answered “yes” when Magistrate Suzanne Cameron asked if he could hear clearly via the link.
The 19-year-old sat silent and unmoving for the rest of the short hearing.
Ms Cameron slammed the prosecution for a delay in producing materials including a pathologist’s report and DNA statement.
Ms Teague told the court there were “staffing issues” and the pathologist was “overworked”.
But Ms Cameron said the prosecution had been given “ample time” to prepare.
“In a case like this it’s really unsatisfactory,” she said.
Mr Todd was arrested and charged on June 14 after surrendering himself to the officers at the Broadmeadows police station.
The Broadmeadows teenager is accused of raping Ms Dixon, then murdering her, as she walked home through Princes Park, North Carlton, between 10.30pm on Tuesday and 3am on Wednesday.
Ms Dixon’s body was discovered on a soccer pitch in Princes Park at 2.40am on June 13.
The case was adjourned until 22nd October.
