A drunk man more than four times the limit lost his license and had his vehicle impounded in Melbourne’s northeast on Christmas Day.
Police randomly intercepted a car on Masons Rd in Mernda around midday.
The 50-year-old Mernda man returned a positive breath test with a BAC of .279.

His licence was suspended and the man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving.
The vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days.
Police are out in force over the silly season as part of Operation Roadwise, which runs until January 6.
They aim to target the five leading causes of death and serious injury on Victorian roads — speed, impairment, distraction, not wearing seatbelts and fatigue.
