A MAN accused of raping women he met on Tinder will spend Christmas behind bars after allegations he stalked a woman he is accused of raping.
Glenn Antony Dylan Hartland, 43, of Moonee Ponds is accused of committing five rapes on women over a two-year period.
He faces more than a dozen charges, including assaults, unlawful imprisonment and distributing intimate images of his victims.
MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE AFTER PICKING UP WOMEN ON TINDER
Today, he refused to leave his cell below the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court because he was afraid to face the waiting media pack.
But police allege he was not shy in approaching one of his alleged victim’s despite being informed an intervention order protecting her was in place and she was a witness in his upcoming rape trial.
Court documents reveal Mr Hartland, who allegedly met all of his victims through the online dating app Tinder, not only contacted the woman, but kept her under surveillance.
Police slapped him with four additional charges and locked him up.
A subsequent bail application was further rejected by the court last week on the grounds he was an unsatisfactory risk to the community.
Police allege Mr Hartland harassed the woman last month, yelling at her: “There’s no point hiding you liar”.
At his appearance in court last July, Mr Hartland could be heard complaining that the media coverage would impact on his sponsorship deals.
On social media, Mr Hartland claims to be a fitness fanatic, who participates in triathlons.
One of his alleged victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said each of the victims met her attacker through Tinder.
“He’s a shape shifter,” she said.
“One minute he’s a lawyer, the next he’s a pro snowboarder.”
His arrest was among the first to come from Victoria Police’s Family Violence Taskforce.
When approached later by Channel 9’s A Current Affair program, Mr Hartland lashed out at the taskforce.
“This is their first big case, they need this to win. But, like I said I’m not going anywhere. When you have people that are saying that you’ve done certain things there are only two ways you can go about it.
“You can hold your head high and act with dignity and honesty but I’m certainly not going to say that I’m guilty of rape because that’s a horrible thing,” he said.
He is expected to apply for bail early in the new year.
