A MAN described by his alleged victims as a “Tinder nightmare” has been charged over a series of savage rapes.
Glenn Dylan Hartland, 42, of Prahran is accused of committing five rapes on women over a two-year period.
He faces more than a dozen charges, including assaults, unlawful imprisonment and distributing intimate images of his victims.
Mr Hartland appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today where his lawyer argued against the release of charge sheets to the media.
He could be heard complaining that the coverage would impact on his sponsorship deals.
On social media, Mr Hartland claims to be a fitness fanatic, who participates in triathlons.
He lists several companies that supposedly support him.
One of his alleged victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said each of the victims met her attacker through Tinder.
“He’s a shape shifter,” she said. “One minute he’s a lawyer, the next he’s a pro snowboarder.”
His arrest is among the first to come from Victoria Police’s Family Violence Taskforce.
Elite Triathlon Performance Australia released a social media statement saying Mr Hartland was a club member for a short period earlier this year but was suspended more than a month ago for matters not related to today’s allegations.
Mr Hartland will return to court in September.
