A YOUNG mother said she thought there had been an earthquake after a speeding car ploughed into her Viewbank home last night, just metres from where her 17 month old daughter was sleeping.
Jenna Swift, 31, had just put her daughter, Stella, to bed and was making dinner about 7.30pm on Saturday night when her Ulrich Court home began to “rumble and shake”.

“This loud roar just swept through the house and got louder and louder,” Ms Swift said.
“I thought it was an earthquake … it was the loudest sound I’ve ever heard.”
The mother-of-one grabbed her daughter and ran out of the house to see a car had crashed into her garage.
“I was shocked to see the car because I didn’t hear any screeching tires or a crash,” she said.
Ms Swift said she saw a man grabbing belongings from the silver BMW before fleeing on foot.
The roof of the home’s garage had collapsed and severely damaged Ms Swift’s car parked inside.
The young family was unable to return to their home last night as large chunks of roof continued to fall away throughout the evening and this morning.
“It was terrifying, but we’re just lucky it wasn’t at the other end of the house where we all were,” Ms Swift said.
“Stuff like this doesn’t happen around here, it’s supposed to be a nice neighbourhood.”
Detectives remained on scene this morning surveying the damage and gathering evidence to help find the driver who remains on the run.
Police said the BMW struck two parked cars before ploughing into the garage of the property.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
