NEIGHBOURS say there has been a lot of trouble in the Cranbourne North street where a teenage boy suffered life threatening injuries when he was brutally bashed with a metal pole by a group of youths.
Police media officer Leonie Johnson said the victim and another 15-year-old boy had gone outside the Endeavour Drive home to confront the group about 12.30am before the boy was savagely attacked.
The group then fled the scene on foot.
The Frankston teenager suffered life threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Neighbours said the house had been the target of violence in the past.

Two young girls are understood to live at the house which is frequently damaged by youths.
The windows of the house were only repaired yesterday after being smashed in, neighbours told the Herald Sun.
Wendy Stewart said groups of young people, mostly of African appearance, would often run through the streets from the nearby train station and “cause trouble”.
“We have so much trouble in this street it’s ridiculous,” Ms Stewart said.
“They bang on the fences, they graffiti the fences and litter everywhere ... beer bottles — I’ve even found needles,” she said.
It is understood the group of African and other youths turned up at the property shortly after midnight before a violent fight broke out between the gang and the two 15 year old boys inside.
The offenders were last seen fleeing towards the South Gippsland Highway.
Next door neighbour Liza Labor said the people at the house often threw large parties.
“I woke up about midnight and there was lots of shouting from next door,” Ms Labor said.
SES volunteers were also called to the scene just before 3am to provide tarps to the crime scene.
