HORSES will become the new reality stars on a television series airing this spring.
Jump Off features five leading racehorse trainers, including Michelle Payne, working with some of Australia’s best show jumping riders to retrain former racehorses and turn them into jumping champions.
Racing Victoria CEO Giles Thompson said equine welfare is at the heart of the show and the horses are the heroes of Jump Off.

“Horses are the centrepiece of our industry and Racing Victoria is dedicated to ensuring they’re afforded appropriate care and attention before, during and after their racing careers,” Mr Thomson said.
“Our vision is to be a leader in equine welfare and build a culture in which the safety and welfare of the horse is paramount.”
Racing Victoria’s Off the Track program, which rehabilitates retired thoroughbred racehorses in secondary careers, has been running for four years and now the process is being turned into the Channel Seven TV series. The aim is find a home for every healthy thoroughbred after racing.
Each team in the show will have four horses, reduced to two who will jump off for the $100,000 prize in from of a live audience.
