SPRING has already sprung for Jennifer Hawkins, with the Myer model — who has been busy shooting the retailer’s new-season campaign — saying this year’s spring-summer collections will quickly drag us out of hibernation.

SPRING has already sprung for Jennifer Hawkins, with the Myer model shooting the retailer’s new-season campaign in Sydney.

And while we might only be in our first week of winter, Hawkins says that this year’s spring-summer collections will quickly drag us out of hibernation.

“From bright botanical prints to tropical florals, there are plenty of pops of colour to help get us into our summer groove,” she said.

Hawkins said bold red, high-octane yellow and green would all be popular come spring, while punchy pink shades would create “eye-candy accessories”.

The advertising campaign, which will launch nationally in early August, will also herald the arrival of designer labels Alexis and Vero Moda to Myer’s stable of fashion brands.

This year will mark Hawkins’ 12th anniversary with the department store, which has faced a saga of challenges in recent months, including the shock departure of CEO Richard Umbers in February, an aggressive campaign by Myer shareholder and industry powerbroker Solomon Lew and reports of flailing customer service.

But Hawkins and the retail giant were both looking to the future yesterday, with the former Miss Universe model back on set, and incoming chief executive John King spending his first day on the job.

Hawkins said she was
yet to meet Mr King, who is joining Myer after a successful stint as the boss of Britain’s House of Fraser and consultancy work in the retail sector, but she was “looking forward to it”.
