The first 169 rooms of the luxury beachfront hotel, in the central tower of Jewel, are officially open for business, along with a range of brand new venues for dining and drinking.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has joined other city leaders at a formal launch on Thursday morning.

The Jewel Residences, Langham-managed apartment-style accommodation above the hotel, is set to open in Spring, along with the remaining restaurants and spa.

The Langham’s general manager John O’Shea said the opening marked “an extraordinary day for luxury tourism”.

“Following months of preparation and excitement, we’re absolutely thrilled to open the doors to Australia’s newest luxury destination,” he said.

“Our vision for this new hotel has always been to bring The Langham’s legendary legacy of elegance and luxury to life in an equally iconic beachfront location.

The coastal-themed restaurant will offer a seafood buffet Thursday to Saturday nights and a champagne brunch on Sundays.

Sandy feet will be standard in the hotel’s casual cafe-diner 26 & Sunny, which holds prime position right on the dunes.

Lobby Bar will take advantage of high ceilings and relaxed interiors to provide light meals and drinks, while The Langham’s signature afternoon tea will be served from breezy venue Palm Court.

“Our talented, experienced team of chefs and dining experts have curated what we feel is the perfect mix of options to suit those staying at the hotel and the local area, and we’re incredibly proud of the options we are bringing to the local area,” Mr O’Shea said.

“We have some exquisite fine dining options that lean on only the best local produce, unique flavours built with expertise from right across the globe, unparalleled in the area.

“We’re hoping The Langham becomes a real destination of choice for the local area and brings a welcome boost for food and drink options, all with an added touch of Langham luxury.”

In Spring, The Langham will launch T’ang Court – sister venue to the internationally renowned Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as Coral Moon the open-air destination bar and Chuan Spa, a holistic wellness concept which embraces the centuries-old healing philosophies of traditional Chinese medicine.

All bookings can be made through The Langham, Gold Coast website.

Seven food, drink venues revealed for Jewel

May 29: Seven new drink and dining venues have been revealed for The Langham, Gold Coast ahead of its June 23 launch – and some of them are already taking bookings.

Taking full advantage of the hotel’s absolute beachfront position in Jewel will be all-day seafood restaurant Akoya, a “refined-casual” showcase of Australia’s finest meat, fish, and poultry, as well as handcrafted cocktails.

Reservations are open already for the coastal-themed restaurant, which will offer a seafood buffet Thursday to Saturday nights and a champagne brunch on Sundays.

Open-air terrace bar Coral Moon is set to become a favourite party spot, promising “innovative cocktails” in a space designed by award-winning Australian firm Studio Aria.

Sandy feet will be standard in the hotel’s casual diner 26 & Sunny, which holds prime position right on the dunes.

The eatery promises “good food, good coffee, a good deli and a bunch of good vibes” and will open 6am-3pm daily.

Lobby Bar will take advantage of high ceilings and relaxed interiors to provide light meals and drinks, along with Langham’s signature afternoon tea.

The bar will stock an extensive selection of champagne, wine, and spirits and will open from 11am-11pm, with reservations already open.

Holiday mode will be activated in the Jewel’s beachfront swim-up Pool Bar, where you can grab a cocktail, spritz or rosé with snacks.

Overlooking the pool will be yet another venue, Palm Court, where in-house pastry chefs will create delectable savouries and pastries.

The venues will be joined by Langham’s signature T’ang Court Cantonese restaurant, sister of its Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The Langham last weeks announced hotel dining industry veteran Craig Robertson had been appointed executive chef at the hotel, along with executive sous chef David Vandenabeele and executive pastry chef, Ryan Stevenson.

“The food and beverage offering will be unparalleled and will offer a new level of luxury in the area,” Mr Roberston said.

“I am excited to be working with a strong executive team with David and Ryan, and we look forward to inviting out first guests in just a few short weeks.”

The Executive Chef team will spend the coming weeks putting together their team of experts to work across a variety of new Langham Gold Coast dining venues each with their own unique offerings. These range from a simple club sandwich and decadent buffets through to Japanese robatayaki, Michelin-starred Cantonese cuisine, and award-winning cocktails.

When you can stay in Gold Coast’s Jewel

May 13: Guests will be able to book rooms at Australia’s newest beachfront hotel from Monday after The Langham announced its long-awaited launch date.

The Langham, Gold Coast and Jewel Residences, housed in the tallest tower of the striking $1.4bn Jewel development at Broadbeach, will open to guests on June 23 – just in time for the winter school holidays.

The hotel’s launch is also a likely catalyst for a fresh marketing drive to sell residential apartments in the remaining two Jewel towers, which have been largely vacant and effectively off-market for three years.

The 339-room hotel is the first development with direct beachfront access to be built on the Gold Coast in more than 30 years.

School holidays start on June 25 for Queensland and Victoria and the following week for NSW.

Guests will be able to enjoy a guaranteed Ocean View, complimentary buffet breakfast for two and welcome cocktails upon arrival.

General manager John O’Shea said staff were “beyond thrilled” to welcome their first guests after months of planning and much global and local anticipation for the project.

“The Langham, Gold Coast will bring together Langham’s global expertise in luxury hospitality and gastronomic dining with an iconic Gold Coast oceanfront location to provide a unique, one-of-a-kind hotel and dining and events experience,” he said.

“The team have been working hard behind closed doors to add the final sparkling touches to the hotel and now, we can’t wait to welcome our very first guests into what will be a new era of luxury for the Gold Coast and beyond.”

The launch will likely spark the next phase of the site’s progress, with two towers of residential apartments set to hit the market.

A spokesman for Jewel owner AW Holdings, business manager Bryan Ge, said in January the company was waiting for the hotel to launch before marketing the residential apartments.

Mr Ge said the launch of the hotel would add value to the campaign for the towers.

“We are finalising our plans, we are not in a hurry to sell, as the hotel opens it will have a lot of benefits, a lot of amenities and facilities will be ready on the site,” he said.

“That will benefit the residential and we’re still finalising the best way to market the product.”

The hotel’s facilities include a pool bar and a range of dining and bar venues including Palm Court, 26 & Sunny and stunning all-day dining experience, Akoya.

More dining and leisure options will follow later in the year, including restaurant T’ang Court, open-air bar Coral Moon and Chuan Spa, a wellness facility.

“The Langham is a globally recognised tourism brand that will elevate the luxury offering of our destination,” she said.

“The brand-new hotel will offer visitors a sophisticated, 5-star resort experience with sincere service, elegant design and jaw dropping views across the Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast Hinterland.

“As the first development with direct beachfront access to be built on the Gold Coast for 30 years, The Langham will bring a new level of luxury accommodation to our city.”
