Police investigating reported ‘bike bandit’ over spate of crime in three Gold Coast suburbs

Police are investigating reports of a man - nicknamed 'bike bandit’ - targeting Gold Coast residents over the past month.

Police are investigating reports of a “bike bandit” terrorising residents in a crime spree across three Gold Coast suburbs.

Labrador residents have described seeing a man on a BMX bike scoping out apartment complexes and committing a range of crimes over the past several weeks.

In early May, a Schneider Ave resident said a man - which residents have nicknamed the bike bandit - stole their neighbour’s bag and smashed a car window.

A Labrador post office worker said there were concerns the man was tracking mail delivery vans as well.

The Bulletin understands the bike bandit has also been reportedly spotted in Arundel and Parkwood.

Labrador resident Josh Kilburn said many residents in the suburb were concerned about the man, but he had not personally witnessed any criminal activity.

“We see him all the time riding up and down Government Rd,” Mr Kilburn said.

“There’s multiple people in Labrador saying the same thing (about the bike bandit).

“But he hasn’t caused any trouble with us.”

Police said they were aware of community concerns about the man and an investigation was underway.

“Community members with any further information are encouraged to contact police and quote the following number QP2200739353,” a police spokeswoman said.
