VIDEO: Police search for group linked to alleged Gold Coast stabbing in Palm Beach

The mother of a teen slashed during a fight at a Gold Coast park says tendons, nerves and arteries in his forearm were severed during the sickening attack.

Group police believe linked to Gold Coast stabbing

THE mother of a teen slashed during a fight at a Gold Coast park says tendons, nerves and arteries in his forearm were severed during the sickening attack.

The woman, who cannot legally be named, said her son had a long recovery ahead “both physically and mentally” after he was attacked on October 23.

Police say the boy was socialising with friends at Pirate Park, Palm Beach, when a verbal argument broke out with a group of male and female strangers.

When the argument turned violent, the boy suffered “significant lacerations to his inner forearm”.

Police believe the injuries were caused by an alcohol bottle that was found nearby.

The boy was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Writing on social media, the mother said her son was “so lucky to be here”.

“He had his tendons, nerves and artery in his wrist severed, a gush taken out of his forearm and a broken nose by this group of boys with a bottle,” she wrote.

“He has a long recovery ahead of him both physically and mentally. I never want a mother to go through what I’ve just been through.

“He wasn’t at a party or anything like that, just sitting at a table with a friend. Wrong place, wrong time.

“Apparently there are videos going around which makes me sick to my stomach to know they were filming and not helping him.”

Police this week released footage of 13 people they wish to speak to over the incident.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.

Police believe there were other members of the public in the area around the time who may have seen or filmed the attack and are calling for anyone with information or vision to come forward.

When contacted, Barbaro’s solicitor Campbell McCallum, said he was yet to take instructions for the charge.

“I wasn’t surprised to hear that he was charged with such trivial offences given the usual attention that he seems to attract from police,” he said of the matter.

The court appearance comes as Barbaro was charged with habitually consorting with a recognised offender after a holiday to north Queensland this month.

Taskforce Maxima, assisted by local detectives and water police, were sent to Hamilton Island and observed three alleged members of the Mongols bikie gang “engaging with each other” during the two-day operation.

Barbaro will have all charges heard in Southport Magistrates Court on November 3.

POLICE HUNT DRIVER WHO FLED CRASH AFTER ARGUMENT GONE WRONG

POLICE are hunting for a driver who left a woman on the side of the road with a head injury after an argument gone wrong.

Officers were called to the incident at Ferny Ave, Surfers Paradise, about 8.30am Monday.

It’s believed the woman fell from the bonnet of a moving car when trying to stop the driver, and hit her head.

The driver then fled and is still on the run. Police were initially investigating whether the incident was domestic violence related, but they have since ruled it out.

The woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Investigations are continuing.
