The former name of a besieged development and construction boss has been revealed in court documents as he’s being sued for more than $3.2m in alleged unpaid tax.

The Deputy Commissioner of Taxation is suing Danny Isaac, managing director of Descon Group Australia, for penalties it says are owed to the Commonwealth by six companies he directed.

According to the claim, Mr Isaac was previously known as Sami Adib and was director of a company named Structures WA.

Company records show Structures WA was wound-up by a court and went into liquidation with debts of more than $500,000 in 2013.

Currently registered companies Adcon Admin, Adcon Engineering, Adcon Management, Adcon Structural Steel Group and Descon Qld are named in the tax case alongside Structures WA.

Mr Isaac, 36, was director of six formwork companies when he was known as Sami Adib, ASIC filings show.

Three have been deregistered, while the other three were wound up by the courts and placed into liquidation, with Structures WA the most recent to fail in February 2013.

In March the same year, using the name Danny Isaac, he formed the first of his Adcon companies, Adcon Qld, which is now part of his wider Descon Group.

The Danny Isaac name had never been director of a company before that date, and Sami Adib has not been a director since.

In response to questions from the Gold Coast Bulletin, Mr Isaac said he’d changed his name for family reasons.

He asked the Bulletin not to report that he’d changed his name.

“It’s very very personal,” he said.

Descon’s Gold Coast projects have included delayed residential tower Waverley Residences at Southport and Allure at Chevron Island.

The group dropped plans for a Surfers Paradise supertower and is also out of an $800m project in Brisbane’s Olympics precinct after a $70m deal failed to settle.

Descon is also builder for Tallis Property group’s Akin residences in South Brisbane.

In its claim, before the Supreme Court of Queensland, the tax office alleges $3.24m in tax and penalties is owed by six of Mr Isaac’s companies, including Structures WA, Adcon Admin, Adcon Engineering, Adcon Management, Adcon Structural Steel Group and Descon Qld.

The alleged debts stretch as far back as 2011 to as recently as February of this year and include unpaid tax, GST, superannuation guarantee charges and director penalties for the companies.

The claim also alleges Mr Isaac/Adib owes $1.27m in income tax.

Mr Isaac was yet to lodge a defence to the claim on Thursday.

The builder and his companies are facing multiple court battles, including a $122 million suit from the developer of the billion-dollar Victoria & Albert project at Broadbeach.

Iris Capital, a company directed by billionaire hotelier Sam Arnaout, has lodged two separate court actions involving Descon Group companies.

One of the actions also names Mr Isaac as a defendant.
